What does Ligamys do?
The polyethylene thread temporarily takes over the function of the torn cruciate ligament and mechanically stabilises the knee. The drill channels are aligned so that the thread can follow the natural course of the anterior cruciate ligament within the knee joint. It is secured in the femur with a specified degree of tension by a metal plate, and in the tibia by a metal sleeve (monobloc) with a spring system.
The thread tension is calculated such that on the one hand it provides the cruciate ligament with the rest needed to enable it to grow back together, while on the other it allows the spring system enough play to be able to adapt dynamically to various stresses.
